     BIO

Born, Santa Barbara, California, 1979
Lives + works in San Francisco, California.

Alanna photographs herself. Her images are cathartic responses to ideas, relationships and emotionally charged situations. Her current self-portrait projects are Cringe, where she investigates moments of intensely self-critical disgust and re-idolatry, where she recreates iconic images of her (predominantly male) art-heroes-- the likes of Bruce Nauman, David Bowie, Wolfgang Tillmans and Klaus Nomi.

Alanna often works in collaboration with Carolyn Radlo in both video and photography; their recent projects include a fifteen-part video installation, THE GRANDFATHERS, an animated experimental short, Rice-Relief and a photographic conversation made expressly for PaperGirl 2010, in Berlin, Germany. This July, the pair presented A Little Something Serious, an evening of their video work at the 9th Street Independent Film Center in San Francisco. For more information, visit C + A Projects.

Other recent collaborations inlcude creating the video elements for Seth Eisen's solo performance Blackbird, camera work and production design for Clean White Lines music videos, as well as an on-going video project with Heather Lucas, Films That My Mind Makes.
